Question by Danielle L: I need some ideas for cute sayings for baby onesies or shirts....?
I am a stay-at-home mom and I have a small clothing line. I am expanding into maternity and baby stuff and would love to have some input from the moms and dads here.

I want to start making cute little onesies with funny little lines on them...like:

"RECOVERING COLIC"
"PARTY AT MY CRIB"
"BOOB LOVER"
"MOMMY ROCKS"
"DADDY ROCKS"

etc., etc., etc. I'd love to hear some fun ideas from other parents for things they would like to see on onesies or tshirts for their little ones. If you give me some good ideas I'll be happy to send your little one one of my creations!!

Thanks for all your help!!

Safety Standards for Baby Cribs

Safety Standards for Baby Cribs

Multiple styles and options are available on baby cribs from which one has to be selected. Purchasing the right baby crib could be a problem for any one. Any baby cribs that are purchased should meet the minimal requirements of the user.

Safety Standards for Baby Cribs

Most important part of the use of baby stroller or cribs is their assembling. Even for the least expensive ones, the assembling should ensure safety of the baby. Occasionally, one of the cribs can slip through. Keeping an eye on the current baby cribs recall can help ensuring safety of the baby well.

Features of Safe Crib

Usual features of safe crib would be –
•  Firm, tight-fitting mattresses.
•  No missing or broken hardware or slats would be there.
•  There are no cutouts in the head or foot boards.
•  Slats of the crib should not be greater than 2 3/8" in size.
•  Corner posts cannot be higher than 1/16".

Baby Crib Drop Sides and Stationery Sides

Ordinarily baby cribs come with sides those are stationery, drop, or double drop.

Users also have the option of having drop-gate crib. Such drop gate cribs will always have fold down side. According to the new crib safety standards that would be coming up shortly, manufacturers will not be permitted to make any more drop side baby cribs now. That is why it would be good sticking with stationery side crib till the safety issues are hammered out.

Dropping of Baby Crib Sides

One of the major aspects of the crib with drop side is the movement. Such movements can make major difference in the convenience of the user. Some of such movements are –

•  Knee push that involves leaning the knee against crib side to lower it.

Simple and easy, this is most commonly used movement with baby cribs.

•  Double trigger is the process where both the hands are used to squeeze the triggers releasing the crib sides. While it offers certain amount of security, the two handed operation may not be the easiest of the moves.

•  Double get is a method that is both easy and convenient using. However the user must be sure keeping the baby from climbing out of crib.

•  Foot bar is the process where the user of the crib balances on one foot pushing a lever dropping the side of cribs. However, this is one of the least used movements these days.

Does your baby ever cry and you don’t feel bad?

Question by Love my baby boy!: Does your baby ever cry and you don't feel bad?
I was just laying her waiting for my son to wake up from his nap, and when he did, even though I was RIGHT here, he stood up and opened his little mouth and just started crying, like the beginning of a police siren, looking dead at me! I couldn't help but to laugh at him and say "my guy, I'm RIGHT here, why are you crying?" and he stopped like 2 seconds later and hes just chillin in his crib "talking to me"....so funny these kids.

Question by what a drag: what should i do in this situation, babysitting and baby got hurt?
okay so i provide childcare for this girl who has two kids a 3 year old and a 6 month old (almost 7 months)anyways i have babysat for her for about 2 years...anyways so yesterday when i was with the kids the baby was sitting up in his crib and right now he is just learning to go from sitting to laying on his stomach and i was getting the little girl (the 3 year old) lunch and the baby started crying when i went to pick him up he was on his stomach he stopped crying when i picked him up but he has a little pink spot on his cheek like he had hit it on the side of the crib, it was just a fain pink spot and he wasn't crying anymore so i figured he was okay and didn't think much of it...well the girls boyfriend is the one who relieves me from watching the kids and when he came the baby was asleep and i forgot to mention that i thought he hit his face on the crib...anyways i didn't think much of it...and then later that evening the mom calls all pissed off "what happened to juniors face?" i started to explain "i don't know i think he..." she cuts me off "what he hit his face on the side of the crib..." and i was like "yeah but he didn't cry much and there was only a faint pink mark..." and she says(practically yelling at me) "well it is a bruise now!!!" so i start to ask "is it hurting him or something?" and she hangs up on my face...

what should i do today is my day off so i really don't have to see her until next wednesday but she lives in my building...i was thinking of going to talk to her today and just looking at the baby to see if it is really all that bad and try to explain what happened again because she didn't really give me a chance, i have really been stressing out about this all night i just feel like she was so pissed about such a small thing, i mean i can understand being protective over your baby but he is getting ready to start crawling and he moves around a lot in his crib, it was bound to happen sooner or later it just happened to happen when i was there(in fact she even told me that he has hit the back of his head in the crib before and to keep a blanket behind his head which i did i just didn't cover the sides of the crib which she never mentioned either), now when i think about it i know that i should have just called her when it happened but i have been babysitting for a long time and kids just get little owies every once in a while it is no big deal...anyways not to mention the mom has a very short temper and is always getting mad at me over small things, like crumbs on her rug or something like that...anyways i just feel like she was so mad that it seems like she thinks i did something to hurt her son which i would never do, i don't even spank my own daughter for a punishment or anything all she has is time out, i would never hurt any kid mine or someone else's, which she is the one who spanks her kids, but i guess that is beside the point...anyways i should i go talk to her or just leave it?
please i would really like some answers i am stressing out about this! thank you
the blanket is not directly put under the baby's head it is behind his head covering the railing of the crib
thanks everyone all the answers have made me feel a lot better... i am going to go and talk to her about it this morning i am sure that she is still gonna be mad because that is how she is...and basically next week i am gonna give my two weeks notice (for many reasons, not becuase of this) but if she still wants to be mad about her son's bruse then i can't stop her soon that little boy is gonna be crawling and a bruse wont be a big deal...

here are other situations i have been in with her these are the reason (among other things) why i am quitting

well i just went and talked to her and the babies face was fine it was only slightly brused not much more of a mark than when i was with him...but anyways it was like talking to a totally different person than i talked to last night she acted as if she was never mad in the first place...so i don't know i still plan on giving my 2 weeks notice next week and i am just starting to think maybe the mom is bipolar or something, and normally i don't like to say i think anyone has anything like that without knowning more but she is always getting overly pissed off at the drop of a dime or maybe she just has to much stress in her personal life...i don't know, i love those kids but i ultimatly am gonna have to stop watching them because of their mom....

Go talk to her it will make her feel better, knowing that you care enough to check on the boy. Accidents happen and she should know that she has 3 year old. So go talk to her and the sooner the better (before lunch).

Question by M: Baby shower dilemma...would anyone else be offened if your mother in law did this?
I just can't get this outta the back of my mind!!! My baby shower was in May and my mother in law didn't get me a gift for the baby. Now, I'm not one who's out to get stuff for free, this isn't about money, but to me it's about the moral of the whole idea. A couple of days after my baby shower(which was at my mother in law's home, which by the way her contribution was having the shower in her home, she didn't even clean up before hand, and she made macaroni salad...and my mother paid for EVERYTHING else) my inlaw complained to me that she was running low on cash since the shower...now months before the inlaws told me they'd get me a swing for the baby...the next day my mother in law told me she'd buy the swing and then mentioned again days later how low on cash she was running. so i told my husband to tell her not to buy the swing until she had the extra money...'cause the last thing I'd want to do was put them out of cash to buy daily necessities. So he told his mom....THEN...within the next week my sister in law (also, prego...due 6 weeks after me...I was june and she was july) finds the "crib" of her dreams....and yep mommy went and bought it for her...needless to say I bought my own swing and they bought nothing. I found out later on that my father in law gave my mother in law the $ $ $ in the beginning of may for the swing and it was never bought!!! Also, just in conversation my mother in law mentioned that she had had a blanket knitted for my step son when he was born and this and that(8yrs ago)...plus his bday feel a weeks before my child was born and she spent money right in front of me buying him quite a few gifts for his birthday!!! I have a pretty descend job and my inlaws know i make descend money...so I'm not sure if that's the reason or not that she won't buy my son anything!!! My feeling are so hurt by this. I know that my mother in law loves my son, so why'd she do this....and it' been mentioned that they ( the inlaws) know they still haven't bought the baby anything...i don't think it's a cash issue 'cause my father in law just bought a $ 4000 toy!!! I couldn't stand it and I told my mother in law my feelings very nicely(don't know if I should have) and she responded with "well...your just sooo hard to please, I didn't think you'd like anything I got for you"...she had no basis to go off of with that remark...idk...but I just can't get her frugalness outta my head everytime I see her!!!

This story is kind of hard to understand, but if I am reading it right you actually confronted your MIL about the fact that she didn't buy your child a gift? In my opinion, that is rude.

She held your shower in her home. But in your view she "didn't clean up beforehand" and "made macaroni salad."

She may be cheap, but she's also right. You are hard to please.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by fab fashionista: If you're having a baby and your parents didn't buy you anything for the baby what would you think?
Would you just brush it off and say oh well? Would you just kind of "expect" that they naturally would get you SOMETHING? I'm just kind of frustrated because my mom keeps saying she's going to get different things for me that I mention I need but she never seems to follow through on it. I DON'T feel she owes me anything but I guess I feel like most people's family would get them SOMETHING. Plus I find it frustrating she says she's getting things then doesn't follow through. I'd rather she just not say she's getting anything. For instance; I said I need a crib - she told me "oh I can get that" Then recently I mentioned that a co-worker gave me a bassinet and that I'd still need a full crib and her response was "oh, well at least that will give you more time to find YOURSELF a crib."

She's also said, she's getting me a snowsuit, a car seat, etc. It's like when i mention specific things I need she "volunteers" to get them but doesn't actually do it and most likely not going to cause the baby is due in like 2 weeks. She spent several thousand dollars for my brother to have an extravagant wedding but hasn't gotten one thing for the baby. It's almost like there's boy/girl favoritism in my family because me and my sister both had courthouse weddings and scrap to get everything on our own when having babies. But when it came to the boys she's spent several thousands, made sure to have formal showers thrown for them, taken out payday loans, lost cars, and damaged her credit to get things for them. Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive or maybe I need to just stop paying attention when she says she's getting me things cause I guess she's just kinda "talking" not really meaning behind it. But I'm curious if other people actually expect their parents to follow through when they say things like that. It's funny because people say the youngest in the family gets spoiled but I'm the youngest and I feel more like I get the "scraps". I talked to my husband and he didn't say much but agreed that she probably shouldn't say she's going to do things if she's not.
Yeah, sorry, I know it's LONG. But I've even had co-workers ask about what family has gotten and seem surprised - saying like "wow, you'd think they would have done that by now". And Ellen I agree, I've just sort of bit the bullet and I'm trying to crunch and get those things myself now. But I did get some nice gifts from my brother and sister. But I do know my family is not the superstitious type.
