I just heard from 2 people that you're not supposed to use the bumpers that come with crib bedding, but why not??
I thought the bumpers were for safety so baby doesn't bang his head into the wooden rails???
Wow I had no idea about the risk of SIDS from bumpers and was about to order a crib bedding set. Anyone know where to get the mesh bumpers?

All the cribs i've been looking at have those bumpers on them. You have to have some sort of cover there, otherwise the flailing baby is likely to get something stuck between the slats.

However, you needn't get the plastic ones nowadays. There is a mesh like alternative available, this stops the baby's hands/legs getting through, while not restricting airflow. Also, they are flexible, so they can't be climbed on to get out of the crib when baby is a bit more mobile.

I'm picking turquoise and chocolate brown as a neutral color for my bedroom and for the baby's crib bedding set. I don't have the luxury of having a separate nursery from my room, so I'm trying to find a crib bedding set first - turqoise and brown that is cute (I'm having a girl) but neutral enough to use again if I have a boy in the future. I'm having a hard time finding a good variety of choices. Any ideas?
