i would stick to a regular crib. even if the crib isn’t too beat up you may not like the look of it later on. (convertible crib)

I see a lot of convertible cribs at garage sales, so I suspect a lot of folks prefer their kids to go into twin sized beds, not full sized. Consider that in your decision.
Look at the convertibles at http://www.jcpenny.com. Some of those with graceful arches (such as Monterey Convertible) would look outstanding as a full-sized bed. Many would just be plain dull. Can’t get character sheets either for full-sized beds (Dora the Explorer is only in twin, for instance).

i have a convertable one thank god because my son is 9 1/2 months odl and i have yet to ave him sleep in it- mine easily converts into a toddler bed with taking the rails off and lowering it- and i can turn it into a full sized bedd as well

I am currently looking at the benefits/downfalls of each as well. The one thing I was weary about is not being able to find character sheets in full sized, but they are readily available where I live and online. My mind is made up for convertible since this will be our only child.
