4 in 1 convertible cribs?
i'm having trouble finding the right crib for my baby. Safety is key. I've been looking at 4-in-1 cribs. But, my boyfriend doesn't think those products are safe. I've tried looking on www.Recalls.gov but, there are so many products. what's your advice?
The 4 in 1 convertible cribs, in my opinion, are wonderful! If they would've had them when I had my daughter I would've gotten one. My friend currently has one and it's working out great...............well, let me rephrase that.....it's working out great when she actually lets the baby sleep in the crib instead of picking her up every time she cries and then let's her sleep in her arms for 3 or 4 hours. My daughter actually got this same little baby to sleep in the crib for about 4 hours with no problem. But they are great beds, because they are beautiful for one, space savers, and they'll save money in the long run. Just make sure you purchase the extra railings if they don't come with it as it may not be available down the road when you need to convert the crib.

I asked about cribs on here and the majority of people said to get a convertible crib. We got our’s at Babies R Us and read all the reviews on it first. Then we also talked to someone in the store about it and played around with it in the store. It was about $400, I believe, but it’s a good quality crib.

Look for JPMA certified cribs. All cribs must meet federal safety standards in the US, but JPMA is an extra set of standards more stringent than the government standards. http://www.jpma.org/index2.cfm?section=Programs&content=Certified Personally, I think the convertible ones are safer because there are no moving parts. Mine is just 4 sides screwed together. You have to unscrew the bolts to convert it into a toddler bed, etc. On the other hand, the drop side cribs are often recalled because they have moving parts, and the drop side can malfunction and fall down or something.
Oh, and get the book Baby Bargains, it has reviews and ratings for all kind of baby stuff. Also, babies R us just sent me a coupon book that includes a coupon for cribs and furniture. Look for that.

We have one that our toddler is using now. I like it because the day he jumped the rail of the baby bed, I was able to convert it before bed that night and didn’t have to go shopping for a new bed, or mattresses, or wait for them to be delivered.

i have a 4 in 1 bed for my son, it has worked great! right now, we are in toddler bed stage, 2 more to go! i bought ours from walmart, works great, little price compared to others.
